We’ve been a little quiet lately about what is going on in our world, and for that we apologize. But in the background we have silently been laying the foundation for Republik. So without further delay, here are a few announcements.

1) Republik release RPK-001 (our first release) is out. It was done by yours truly. What started off as a remix of EDM staple “Blue” by LaTour, ended up being a sci-fi, tech house, cheeky sorta track titled “A Place Full of Nowhere”. It has nothing to do with Blue, but took on it’s own life after about 4 hours of work.

2) Republik has reached a Distribution deal with long time electronic music powerhouse Intergroove in Germany. We are happy to have struck a deal with them which will allow all Republik releases to be available in just about every major dance music digital retailer in the world. Including Bleep.com, Beatport.com, 7digital.com, Dancetracksdigitital.com, Itunes, and more.

3) On July 14′th Republik will have our official launch party here in our hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. Location and special guest DJ’s will be announced at a future date, but you really want to set this date aside now. Don’t say we didn’t give you plenty of notice.

Republik Records recently held a contest via 99designs.com to find ourselves a logo. For those of you not familiar with 99Designs, I highly suggest you check them out. They run graphic design competitions (thousands of them), which are submitted by companies and people who are looking for things like logo’s, t-shirt designs, website graphics, etc… The companies put up a prize, and describe what their looking for, and the member/designers submit designs. It’s far more in depth than I have the patience to write today. Check it out for yourself!

We wanted to keep true to the ideas behind Republik so we turned the job our logo design over to the Internet community. One stood out from the rest, so here it is. Thanks to N4TW1K for the wonderful work.

Keeping with the tradition behind the label, we have launched a contest on 99designs.com. Since we will be run by a community, we though it would be fitting to have a community involved in our logo design. The contest will run for 7 days, and the winner will receive a prize of $150 dollars. We hope you will join us in keeping tabs on the contest, and giving us some feedback on your favorite designs as they start to come in.

DJ Magazine has selected Republik founder Inertia’s mix as one of their 5 favorites in the Next Generation DJ Competition by Letsmix.com.  With nearly 2000 entries into the contest so far, DJ Magazine posted the news sometime earlier this week. Here’s the link

Republik is an upstart label scheduled to launch in early 2010. Our goal is simple: To use technology and democracy as a foundation for running one of the most cutting edge record labels the universe has ever seen.

With the advent of new technology, the old model for the way record labels are run is quickly becoming obsolete, while a perfect storm brews in the background. That perfect storm is bringing to the end user vast quantities of new music, with very little in the area of quality control.

Republik aims to bridge that gap by bringing quality control back into the equation, while at the same time helping to support the promising new artists of the future. For the music listener, this means no more sorting through hundreds of new artists before you find someone you like.

And for the true music lovers, the ones who like the find the needle in the haystack, good news! You’re the CEO of the label.
